When Coleman said she was sending her newest deck, When Coleman said she was sending her newest deck, The Inflorescence Tarot, I was super excited. I love to be challenged by my divination tools and this deck is fucking magic.
Created by @darkexact and @doctusbalatro over the course of two years + a pandemic, this deck takes the seeds of tarot and creates a mandala for each card (plus an extra major card).

When it arrived, I intentionally left the tiny pamphlet in the box and spent time with the cards. I wanted zero influence from anyone about how to look at or work with this deck. There are essentially 27 mandalas, 23 major arcana and then 4 minor arcana that are repeated. There are no words, each suit is sorted by color, courts are numbered and have little dots that gave some structure to what I consider the ‘becoming the element’ section of the minors.

I read with them like normal which led to nothing surprising. You can do that with this deck if you want, because it’s beautiful and reading that way gives us comfort. We all know how to work a pip deck.

Then I began pulling a one or four each day. I’d look at + fall into the image. I’d ask the cards “What am I doing here/today/right now?”
And then I’d let whatever was going to flow through, well, flow.

Some days, the red and green card days, poetry flew out of me. Blue days brought painting, writing, long conversations about hard things or delicate things. Yellow + green days brought my focus to cleaning and tidying. Red + yellow brought my focus to sharpness in me, jagged things, social constructs, new questions to ask. It has been a fascinating experiment.

The White Fly Tarot by @ddraw_illustrations is one The White Fly Tarot by @ddraw_illustrations is one of those decks, the kind with art that draws you in. It makes you wonder, makes you think.

That faceless Magician, holding that book like with so much perceived ease. We’re supposed to see the relaxed pose, the confident stance, the red of the hood to distract from the absence of the face. Focus on the magic, not the magician. It’s clever.

And, what is that Tower doing? Is it the ball of fire hitting the ground or that thread of light reaching up? Which illumination are we supposed to focus on? What about the ripples around the tower? There is no texture to them, just light.

The 7/P grew a whole ass tree, stairs to whatever, wherever. Years of RWS imagery and here we can grow/tend/build a whole way through and up and out.

The Pages in this deck are all wearing masks. They remind me of how my face feels when I’m masking in new situation and I want to observe all the society rules.

-All of the cards have astro stuff on the top, glyphs and what-not, for the sky traffic signs.-

PS - I love the way the Aces echo the Magician.

Journey to the Tower is a photographic, RWS based Journey to the Tower is a photographic, RWS based tarot deck created by Michael Garlington and Natalia Bertotti. The hand colored photographs of the artists’ friends and family staging scenes from the tarot bring the cards to life in a way I haven’t quite seen before.

The cards are quite large (4.5” x 6.5”) and although this can typically be difficult for folks to shuffle, it isn’t a dealbreaker for me. The cardstock is of great quality and the best way I can describe it is “bendy” or flexible - but also sturdy. As the scenes already have real live people in almost every card, the size makes the scenes come alive that much more. If you like doing large spreads, just make sure you’ve got enough space on your table, dig?

The backgrounds in all of the scenes have a gray sky. At first I found this somewhat melancholy, but the more I read with it, the more grounding effect it had on the readings and their messages. Interestingly enough, the by-product of this guided my eye to pay closer attention to which way the people were facing in a spread, or if there was a particular color that stood out against the dark gray backdrop, and what that might mean. I’ll take that a step further to say, the color scheme suggests that, no, things can’t be rosy all of the time, and these are the moments where we need to pay attention to the deeper meaning, the details that will ground us.
As the last scene that was created and photograph taken (per the creators in the gorgeous 103-page guidebook!), it truly is the Journey to the Tower, and of no surprise that we would see this very thing.

As tarot readers and enthusiasts, we’re no strangers to the meaning of The Tower; a shaken foundation, drastic change, perhaps sudden turmoil (depending on the context). And yet, if you look, we see this bright eyed little dumpling in a yellow shirt peering out at us, a little ray of hope in the middle of chaos. We could use that right now.

Pantha in Thai means "thousand eyes" and with thos Pantha in Thai means "thousand eyes" and with those thousand eyes everything can be seen. It's a big claim to make for an oracle deck with a finite number of cards but I think Mate Horonumber has managed to capture very specific aspects of life in the 80 cards of his Pantha Oracle.

The Pantha Oracle has a couple of optional sidekicks as well. There is a Chinese Zodiac set of cards and a Western set of Zodiac cards that include Ophiuchus. Personally, I don't often work with zodiac or astrology in my practice so I was a bit lost on how to incorporate these into a reading but I imagine for someone with more experience, the zodiac cards are a fun addition. I particularly enjoyed seeing the Chinese Zodiac animals personified.

As I mentioned before, the cards featured in the Pantha Oracle cover a wide spectrum including physical, spiritual, and emotional themes. I appreciate how color sets the mood for a lot of the cards. Cool and warm tones vary throughout the pastel and saturated color stories. Reading with these cards revealed a simple perspective which opens a path for self discovery. I found questions leading with "how" and "what" to be the most effective use for this oracle.

The cardstock across all three decks is smooth, matte, flexible, and sturdy. The edges are gilded in a purple foil however at the Shuffle Tarot Etsy store, you have the option to upgrade to a holographic purple foil. You also have the option to configure a set to your needs. Whether you only want the oracle or the oracle with the zodiac sets, the choice are yours to make.

The Sakura Spring Tarot is the cuteness explosion The Sakura Spring Tarot is the cuteness explosion I didn’t know I needed. In case you thought that regular anime characters aren’t cute enough as they are, this is a chibi anime deck!
⠀
But what exactly is chibi anime?
⠀
If traditional anime people are compared to pandas, then chibis are like baby pandas - same cuteness but squished into a smaller package, making them even cuter!
⠀
All truth be told, I would have been happy enough if this deck served only as a collector item. I've been disappointed by cute decks before and, therefore, had emotionally prepared myself for this deck to not read well. To my pleasant surprise, this deck reads very well. In spite of its childish appearance, it is quite capable of mature conversations.
⠀
I always appreciate decks that offer their own spins on some cards while generally adhering to tradition and the Sakura Spring Tarot does just that. While the majority of cards are cute renditions of the Rider Waite Smith deck, there are some cards with interesting variations.
⠀
The first card of this nature to capture my attention was the Judgement card. While the essence of the card is similar to the RWS version, it portrays it a way that is less intimidating for me. Instead of the dead rising from their graves, it shows spirits heading towards the gate of heaven with the Buddha as their guide. To me, this scene feels more serene and less zombie-apocalypse.
⠀
Another card that I really like in this deck is the 7 of Swords. Although it's essentially the same as Pam's vision, there is one significant difference. While Pam portrayed a common thief sneaking away with a bundle of swords, the person here is a ninja. To me, this change in character puts a completely different spin on how I'd read this card. With the traditional version, the intention varies with the reading. With this deck, however, I'll be more prone to consider the situation from the perspective of the ninja.
⠀
Overall, I'm pleased as punch with this deck and may even make this my new party deck!

Desney is the latest addition to the @deckstiny fa Desney is the latest addition to the @deckstiny family. Being the youngest member of a family filled with wonder and talent, it has big shoes to fill. Unsurprisingly, it does not disappoint.
⠀
This deck is drawn in the style of classic Disney cartoons. Every single card fills my heart with sweet nostalgia, bringing me back to the days when I knew every Disney tune by heart. I find myself joyously humming songs like ‘A Whole New World’ and ‘Beauty and the Beast’ whenever I flip through these cards and it feels so darn good! It reminds me of simpler days when all I wanted in life was to live in Belle’s library.
⠀
I have a lot of cute decks and even more feel good decks. And, yet, Desney still manages to stand out amongst my collection. It makes me feel positive in a way that only a true childhood friend can do. This deck reminds me of all that I loved and cherished about my childhood.
⠀
But the Disney-esque characters is not the only aspect of this deck that makes it a set of luscious eye candies. This deck is filled with the same rich symbolisms found in the original RWS. Many, like the pomegranates that decorates the veil behind the high priestess, are immediately familiar. In addition, there are also symbolisms that feel new due to their perspectives. An example of this is the waterfall background behind the Empress. In the original RWS, the waterfall sits at the very edge of the card, making it hardly noticeable. In the Desney version, however, this feature is much more prominent. To me, this more centred focus assigns more weight to this symbolism. In addition to the richness associated the wheats, I am more likely to associate this card with flowing emotions.
⠀
The Kickstarter campaign offered two versions of this deck - standard and demo, which is smaller and possess minor differences in design. There is also a majors only deck featuring Pamela Coleman Smith (in Disney style) on every card!

The Portent Tarot by Linzi Silverman at @eyeofastr The Portent Tarot by Linzi Silverman at @eyeofastro is a minimalist pip deck done in black and white with a holo-black edge. There are no titles on these cards, allowing the reader to see what they see, making room for an exploration of the readers own insights.

When I look at that Magician card I see most of the tools I need and know that I’ll still need my own competent (but also sometimes clumsy) skills to use them. The Hermit card, with the match, allows me to really sink into the knowledge that the light + my relationship to it is at the root of my questions.

The 5th picture shows cards 11-16. We all know these cards. The Tower card, with the lightning, was a reminder that the Tower is just about showing you, illuminating, the structures in our lives. Easy.

The minors are pips, and I’ve shown how the courts are done in this deck. I see the way the Page is inside the box as the way it feels when you’re inside the idea that’s coming to life in our mind-hearts. The Knight is really just the moment we lean in. The Queen is when we take what we’ve done and begin to branch out, test the edges, grow. The King is mastery, time to begin the next thing, built on the skills of all we’ve learned.

The Linescape Tarot New Gen is full of bright back The Linescape Tarot New Gen is full of bright backgrounds and delicate linework. The holographic glitter edges make my rainbow loving heart delighted. All of the linework in this deck is done in the same holographic foil. While I love it, it does make some of the line images difficult to see clearly when they’re on the table.
I don’t mind picking the cards up to tilt them so I can see them better.

The Fool in this deck approaches life with her flamingo floaty and has become my second favorite Fool in existence. Why shouldn’t we have some fun when we are beginning something? Not all risks need to lack humor.

I love this High Priestess with the pillars at the moon. This spot, at the edge of moonlit water, is where I’ve found the majority of my answers to my lifes questions.

That 8/W? Yes. That’s what all of that movement feels like when we land where we intended.

And, did you zoom in to look at that 8/C? This is exactly the thing. Bringing our attention to what’s in those cups. It doesn’t matter who’s going, who’s staying, it’s about the way we handle the tangle between. There is so much room for grace here.

There are three bonus cards in this deck: Earth, Sky, Sea. That Sky card, whew. It got me right in the chest.
