The Embodied Wisdom Oracle by Tara Jackson (@empat The Embodied Wisdom Oracle by Tara Jackson (@empathpreneurs) is a colourful deck of abstract paintings designed to bring our bodies and souls back into alignment. Cards like Reflection, Surrender, Patience and Flow focuses on processes that brings us back to peace and centre. There are also chakras cards, which can assist with particular areas of focus, both physically and spiritually.
⠀
Each image is an invitation to explore our own subconscious. It focuses our mind through a careful arrangement of colours and movement. For example, when I look at the Life Force card, its simple waves and spirals inspire the image of chaotic primordial waters moving towards creation and organization. The bottom part of the image, with its raging waters, feels like it's rushing towards the golden spirals to embrace and accept them.
⠀
The Solar Plexus card bursts with energy. When I focus on this this card, I can feel a stream of warmth growing and radiating from within.
⠀
My favourite card is Creativity. The spiral that extend like arms reminds me of an octopus. I recently learnt that these sea creatures are incredibly curious and intelligent and, when I look at this card, I think of these beautiful and regal animals extending their arms to sense and understand their surrounding environment. With each piece of new information, they adapt and revise their plans.
⠀
While some images induces stillness, others motivate us and stir our desires. In both scenarios, they are accompanied by a sense of joy and liberation that derives from acceptance and peace.
⠀
This deck is perfect for those who prefer visual aid when meditating. Personally, I think it pairs divinely with a nature music soundtrack or Enya. When I meditate with these cards, I am reminded of the power of gentleness and beauty. It empowers by giving us permission to slow down, to remain calm and, most of all, to connect with Divine.

If you've ever considered creating your own oracle If you've ever considered creating your own oracle or tarot deck, The Oracle Creator: The Modern Guide to Creating an Oracle or Tarot Deck, by Steven Bright and Liminal 11, is an amazing resource. Steven Bright is the creator of, Spirit Within Tarot. In this book, Steven thoughtfully guides the reader from concept to completion of a deck. My favorite thing about this book is how it isn't intimidating, it doesn't feel like a chore, task, or assignment.

This book is full of inspirational ideas and art from other existing decks, many I'm personally familiar with and own as part of my collection. The task of creating a deck can feel daunting. I've had an idea for a deck mulling around in my head for years but I didn't have an idea of where to start. I spent quite a while reading and consuming this book because I really want my idea to become a reality. The Oracle Creator: A Modern Guide to Creating an Oracle or Tarot Deck, provides a clear path on which I can begin my journey.

The most valuable section of this book, in my opinion, is the section that provides resources for those who want to successfully publish their own decks. Prior to reading this book, it felt like the likelihood of success relied upon who you knew and it felt like there was a secret circle of gatekeeping creators. Not only does this book provide information for indie publishing, including funding tips, it includes insight for mass market publishing too. I feel like the publicizing section is a gem too. While I may be biased because Indie Deck Review is mentioned, there's a wealth of other creators and influencers across multiple platforms that are mentioned as well.

Whether you want to create a deck for personal use or a deck that you wish to market publicly, The Oracle Creator: The Modern Guide to Creating an Oracle or Tarot Deck is an incredible asset that can eliminate a lot of the stress associated with the creation process.

I remember checking on Jeremy Ennis’s progress o I remember checking on Jeremy Ennis’s progress on this deck almost daily while he was creating it. The Masters of the Universe Tarot is like time traveling back to the late 80’s to watch my favorite cartoons.

He’s combined two of them in this deck, and the result is often amusing (especially if you’re familiar with the stories of both cartoons)

Orko as the Magician brought a smile to my face, he was such a kind sweet character, underestimated (mostly by himself) and incredibly powerful.

As a young kid, I loved Catra and seeing her as the Star here made sense to me. Stars may be a light in the dark, but they are also dead things, long ago memories that shine so brightly we attach our hope, our eyes to them.

Every card that Skeletor is in is perfection. I hear his cackle when I look at them.

I also really like the 2 of cups in this deck, with Adora and She Ra coming together.

The deck is sold out at the moment, but may come back around in limited sales runs. Jeremy has a number of other decks that are fan art.

Kerri describes The Radiant Crystal Card as a comp Kerri describes The Radiant Crystal Card as a companion for other forms of divination & this is a good way to describe it. Each card features an image of a crystal, the name, & 3 qualities in the front. On the back is a host of information including correspondences for chakras, herb or flower, & astrology, an affirmation, and further breakdown of the energies associated with each crystal. While I would not use this as a solo divination tool, I would use this in conjunction with a reading or even a learning tool.

As a learning tool, this is a great set of flashcards or even a book in deck form. The images on the front of the crystal are well done and a good reference for the crystal depicted. The information provided on the back helps build out associations for several other disciplines that many readers find interesting. A friend of mine and I flipped through the deck and picked out several of our favorite stones and found that our favorite stones were well represented with the imagery and information.

A “small” touch that I enjoyed on the cards were the illustrations on the back of the herbs and flowers associated with each stone. The image is done in color and is recognizable to my untrained eye. I love a good line drawing but colors really help me with identification and so while this additional image is not the main focus, it is something I appreciated since I would not have been able to recognized mullein if I walked past it. (Mullein is associated with tiger’s eye, a long-time favorite of mine.)

How would I use this? I would use this as a learning tool for myself or as reflection tool. I’ve received readings where I will receive a stone afterwards as a gift or focus point. Something similar could be done without buying a bunch of stones or carrying them around. Since there is also an affirmation and chakra point, I would also use this information as potential “homework.”

Like other Bouchette Design products these are high quality cards. The card stock is thick & cards feel like satin. They also have lavender edges. There is also a lovely reading cloth with a crystal grid printed on it.

The Golden Light Oracle is the most recent deck fr The Golden Light Oracle is the most recent deck from creator Anielle Reid. Anielle is the creator behind the Magick and Mediums Oracle and The Slavic Oracle. Cindy Monroy's illustrations create a beautiful world of whimsy within the 44 cards of this deck.

While unwrapping this deck from it's packaging I was immediately struck by a feeling of warmth and safety. Somehow this deck reminded me of the cozy feeling I imagine you experience when you put on a warm sweater or when someone hands you a mug of hot cocoa (made with real milk) after a long day in the snow or brisk weather. It makes sense when you understand how the art work was inspired by the islands of Fair Isle and Iona.

The cards cover universal concepts from multiple spiritual principles and personal truths. The cheerful illustrations allow the cards to be inviting while providing opportunities for self-discovery and wisdom. Each card is explained in detail in the accompanying guidebook. Included in the guidebook are keywords, blockage meanings, divination meanings, reversed meanings, actions, and affirmations. A unique Guiding Light card spread is also included with the guidebook.

The cardstock for The Golden Light Oracle is a combination of some of my favorite elements. They have super flexible cores, gold gilding, and a linen embossed texture. The deck and guidebook come in a sturdy two part box for safe keeping.

I was deeply fascinated by Corrupted Tarot's conce I was deeply fascinated by Corrupted Tarot's concept when I first saw it on Kickstarter. And, yet, I was reluctant to back it as I feared that it may be one of those decks that sound interesting in theory but feels gimmicky in reality. Right now, I'm thanking all my stars that I went with my gut instinct and got myself a copy because this has quickly become one of the most important decks in my collection.
⠀
The concept of the Corrupted Tarot is simple, yet fascinating. The images depict the meanings of the cards in reversal. While there are many dark themed decks in existence, in my experience, they are dark in imageries but still follow the traditional meanings of the cards. This deck is unique in that it portrays the 'negative' aspects of each card.
⠀
Reading with this deck can be challenging for modern readers who are used to decks with more positive vibes and tend to seek the positive aspects in every reading. Portraying the 'corrupted' meanings, it is much harder to find and focus on the reassuring aspects of the cards.
⠀
While this isn't a deck I would use for daily meditations, I cherish it for its ability to bring difficult situations into focus without any sugar coating. We are asked to swallow its potentially bitter messages like Buckley's - it tastes awful but we use it because it works. Without any fear of hurting my feelings, this deck tells me what I'm doing wrong and the things I'm avoiding out of laziness or fear.
⠀
At the same time, however, this deck isn't all gloom and doom. It demands courage to face our fears and insecurity. If we come prepared, we are rewarded with clarity and wisdom.
⠀
Another aspect of this deck worth noting is that it is a collective artist deck. This type of decks is a hit and miss for me because I find the inconsistency of styles distracting. Thankfully, this one happens to be a winner; there is a consistency in the way it feels and I get the pleasure of viewing many great art pieces without feeling any disconnect between one card and the next.

The Glamorous Tarot by Jessica Horton features art The Glamorous Tarot by Jessica Horton features artwork inspired by the traditional RWS tarot with the eye of an makeup artist. The saturated tones and bold colors feel reminiscent of the eyeshadow palettes I see featured on various social media platforms. I appreciate how the fashionable makeup trends are echoed in the modern fashions on the individuals in this deck. In the tradition of most fashion campaigns the people are young, slim and or average body sizes, and featured a variety of ethnicities.

While this deck remains loyal to the symbolism of the RWS the suits are all represented by tools of the MUA trade. Pentacles are represented by a round makeup palette, swords are lipstick bullets, cups are a makeup brush holder, and wands are a makeup brush. I found the chages to be a fun addition that emphasize the glamour perspective.

The deck comes in a standard tuckbox without a guidebook however, the box and Etsy page mention an available guidebook via download. The cardstock is a medium thickness with a springy core . The silky, smooth, matte finish enhances the saturation and bold colors in this deck.

The Glamours Tarot is available on Etsy at TheButterflyGardenKC shop.

I have to admit when I received the Wild Life Yoga I have to admit when I received the Wild Life Yoga deck for review, I was less than enthusiastic. My experience with yoga has been challenging. With that being said, I enjoyed doing small routines with the children of the daycare I used to work at. It was important to the director that the kids learn how to connect play with the mind, body, and spirit therefore we did a few poses each day.

It's in that spirit that Jess Schirmer created the Wild Life Yoga deck. While it isn't a cartomancy deck, this page is called Indie DECK review and this is an Indie Deck. Wild Life Yoga is designed to help families connect with their children. In this age of electronic entertainment, Jess, a yoga instructor of 7 years, feels it's important for people to reconnect physically.

I think this deck is brilliant in its concept, design, and effectiveness. I genuinely wish I had this available for use when I was at my former daycare. Jess provides a variety of fun ideas and activities for use with these cards. Each card offers the title of each pose in Sanskrit (?) and English, an affirmation, ways to connect with nature, instructions for how to do the pose, and variations of each pose. The cards have colorful images of people demonstrating the poses.

Let's talk about the people. My goodness, there are some tarot/oracle creators and publishers that can take a note from the diversity in this deck. These families are real world, modern families. They represent a variety of ages, races, sizes, genders, abilities. There are interracial families, multicultural families, and multigenerational families. Everything is presented with effortless authenticity. It was when I came across the card with a person wearing a cochlear implant that I fell in love.

Jess reminds users that physical connection and fun are the goal and not pose perfection. Even if you only do one pose a day with your kiddos, you can create a habit of mindfulness and family bonding. With the Wild Life Yoga deck, Jess has seamlessly integrated play and spirituality in a way that is easy to achieve and appreciate.
